Got carryout from Thai House. Food was great, generous portions, and service was fast. Philippine-style noodles were great and flavorful, but not at all spicy. Basil chicken was good, but asking for medium spiciness got us what we'd usually think of as mild. We got a side of steamed broccoli, which was perfectly done. Would definitely come here again.

What was being presented as Thai food was more like bad Chinese-american LaChoy. The Spicy Thai Basil was a very bad commercial instant brown soupy-gravy with dry chicken pieces, a few carrots and a smattering of basil. Nothing in Thai cuisine except soup has that much liquid. I still shudder when I think about it. The rice was a basic grain rice they over-cooked and kept too wet trying to mimic a sticky rice but failing. Thai food calls for a better quality rice like jasmine or even a basmati. The Thai spring rolls had no color, or flavor. Where was the scallion, julienne carrot, jalapeno strip, anything. Just bean sprout, lettuce and a very thinly sliced shrimp. Very disappointed with the quality, flavor and even ambiance of this place. I honestly couldn't finish it, and throwing it out was the best decision of the day.

The food was good, but the service much better. We ordered Tom yum soup, pineaaple fried rice and vegetable Pad Thai along with bubble tea which is a must. Great little place for a quick bite

I didn't like the experience overall. The service was okay, food was below average. I have had definitely more delicious Thai food. It felt more like Chinese.

Had chicken wonton here. The food was sooo good, and spicy (love it!). They served additional free oranges afterward too.

What I want to say is: the restroom here is very clean, which is really unusual for this kind of small restaurant! Of course, the food is not bad~

Tai tea was very good. The worst tai food I've ever had. I have been twice and nether time I was pleased. Good service atleast and everything was clean

Super disappointed. I just moved here.. was hoping to get some good food delivered. I ordered a order of sweet and sour chicken... it had just maybe 3 small bite sizes of chick.. I'm not kidding, and the rest was all sauce/watered down sauce? THERE'S NO CHICKEN IN THE SWEET AND SOUR CHICKEN!!! Pork fried rice was pretty good... the pork was gristley... so I ate around it. Basically I ate ride with peas. The pad Thai was super strange. I'm from Portland so I know good Thai food. It was pretty bad. Too bad because I was stoked they delivered. I gave it a 2 star because they 1) deliver and 2) I liked the rice part. Sad to say I won't order again :-( I wish I could post a picture of this "sweet and sour chicken" hahaaa! It's actually funny as heck! I guess just order sweet and sour SAUCE cause that's all you get... for my to go order anyways.... please fix this people...

My favorite place to go when I visit my mom in Crescent City. The curry is all phenomenal and gluten free. I love the flaming banana dessert as well, it's a must have if you're dining in :)

Overall, average experience. The coconut tom yam soup was excellent. Drunken noodle was average, rice noodles were in chunks n broken. Shrimp n scallop stir fly did not impress me.

We ordered three dishes today and they were: red curry, combination noodle soup, and some rolls. The red curry is probably the worst curry I have eaten in my whole entire life. The rolls were also very disgusting. The noodles were ok. Based on my experience, I rated this restaurant 2.5 stars.

A cute little Thai restaurant run by an equally charming family. You'd think you were being served in their own dining room. We had arrived in town late the night before and wanted to have dinner here, but they, like many restaurants in town, were closed by 8:30. So the next day, we went for a hike in the Redwoods and came back starving for some SE Asian food for lunch. We were brought to our table and given menus by a young girl and were served by whom I assume is her grandfather. I think that mom and dad were working the kitchen. Grandfather told us about the specials of the day and my wife ordered the Grilled Wild Salmon, while I went with the ol' favorite, Chicken & Shrimp Pad Thai. My wife's brother and our son ordered the Vietnamese beef noodle & the mixed seafood noodle soup. We all shared chicken satay and summer rolls as appetizers. Everything was very fresh & homemade and the noodle soups were really hearty & flavorful. It's great to see a family run business do well, especially one that spans 3 generations! This one's a keeper.

This place is amazing! I am a strict vegetarian. Just tell the wait staff no oyster or fish sauce and you'll get exactly what you need. We all shared family style from the vegetarian menu: hot & sour soup, vegetable potstickers, veggie spring roll, and thai chow fun.... everything was amazing! So much flavor! Wonderful presentation & friendly wait staff. Highly recommend the hot& sour soup!

A group of us were visiting Crescent City, CA from out of state for a wedding. We checked reviews for places to eat in town and found this little gem with all of these raving reviews about their food. All of us LOVE Thai and are pretty spoiled where we live to have great choices for amazing Thai food. That being said...we had a terrible experience at this place. Two of us tried noodle dishes, Drunken Chef and Pad See Eiw, both dishes were overly salty and had 5 + noodles stuck together. Another person ordered curry, it was very runny and it didn't come with rice, we were charged extra for all dishes that in all other Thai places we have ever been has never charged for rice with sauce dishes. We were disappointed in the quality of the food and while I understand we were on the coast, why did literally everything have "shrimps" included?

When we have good Thai food, we tend to order lots of food and eat for the pure joy of savoring the flavors of the dish. We came here after not having a meal all day until 3 in the afternoon. We were really hungry. As we ate our meal, we were reluctant to finish our meal. This is like a hybrid Thai / Vietnamese restaurant. After reading the reviews, the spicy seafood noodle soup looked delicious so my son and I ordered one each and the drunken fried rice. We asked for extra spicy and was warned of the spice. The food was served quick and like I said earlier, we didn't feel like finishing our meal. The noodle tasted old and undercooked (extra starchy) and the fried rice had a mushy texture from the abundant oil. This is also the first Thai or Vietnamese restaurant that didn't have a selection of sauce on the table. The food sure needed it. As I was leaving, I glanced at the dish of the other tables. It really didn't look appetizing. Fortunately for them, this is probably the only Thai restaurant within many miles of the radius of Crescent City.

First the bad, there's a vegetarian menu, but it defaults to fish/oyster sauce, even with asking I almost got stuck with that, bleh. Wow dude here asked me if I wanted iced or normal water,I don't think that's happened in my life. Maybe he noticed that i wasn't drinking the water the server gave me. impressive. Too bad she wasn't on that tip, she didn't even offer to refill

Enjoyed a lunch and 2 dinners here during our recent Oregon road trip. Service was friendly and very efficient all 3 times. Our favorite dish was the Spicy Seafood Noodle Soup, which included 4 halves of large scallops and 4 decent sized shrimp, onions, basil, a few tomato pieces, and bean sprouts in a hot and sour soup base. It takes me a few spoonfuls to get used to the soup, but then I love it. We also tried the Salmon in Basil Sauce with veggies. Unfortunately they wouldn't substitute brown rice for the scoop of white rice that came with it (though they would give us extra brown rice for $2). As it turned out, didn't really need rice at all, as the veggies were not in the sauce so could be eaten as is. The Salmon was delicious, broiled perfectly and the basil sauce added a nice, complimentary flavor. Also had the Thai House BBQ Chicken, which was good but nothing special, and Drunken Noodles, the only disappointing entrée we had. It had chicken, half a dozen or more shrimp, and a few veggies, along with (of course) lots of noodles. But the noodles were very poorly cooked, often stuck together in gobs of 6 or more thick. Not good. Also, despite having ordered it hot (out of mild, medium, or hot), it wasn't very spicy at all. But the waiter came through with some hot sauce on the side, quickly solving that issue.

We are traveling in our RV and were very tired. We arrived in Crescent City not knowing a thing about the area. I logged onto Yelp and found Thai House, read the reviews, ordered and they delivered. We were VERY happy with the results, I'd highly recommend this Thai food restaurant. Keep up the great posts, it really helps!

Only good part about this place is location and service. Food is not really Thai. Worse than Chinese fastfood place. I would go to grab quick burger from McDonald or sandwich from subway for better taste and price. Sorry have to put down this review to help helpers.

Spending a single night in town, I tried to figure out via Yelp where I could get the best meal in town, preferably with seafood. Porcini was closed on Monday, and, after returning to motel room and trying again, I kind of sighed and went for Thai House. I had the Spicy Basil Seafood, and was very pleasantly surprised by a full serving of plump and tasty shrimp and tender scallops with the basil, bell peppers, and onion. Sauce was kind of ordinary, but spicy (to order) and was really good with soft, fluffy rice. Interior unpretentious, but friendly and attentive service. With a small bottle of wine, it was a small fraction of what it would have cost to eat fancy, and I left very happy, and would eat there again.

Great vegetarian hot and sour soup and yellow curry! Stopped in on a Sunday driving from WA to the Bay Area. Would certainly stop in again if in the area.

We've traveled to Crescent City twice and twice we've stopped by here for dinner. The drunken noodle is superb here! Nice to be along the quiet coast in a quaint town and enjoy a nice Thai meal.

This place is always excellent. I rarely get apps, but here I can't help it. Potstickers and the combo plate with the salad & spring rolls are a must now!

While in Crescent City, CA, a friend of mine took me to a business meeting he was having at the Thai House. First of all, this is probably the only Thai restaurant you'll find in the city. So your options are limited. The décor of the place was okay. They had their fish tank along with Thai/orient like decorations around the restaurant. You can probably fit around 50-70 people in the room if packed well. The food: We had a family style dinner. I ordered the Phad Thai. Our party also ordered: starch soup; clay pot shrimp; three ? shrimp; flaming chicken; rice; basil chicken. My phad thai was okay. Noodles were pan fried well and seasoned well. The clay pot shrimp came in a weird platter. The shrimp had a lot of flavor. You can also use the curry-like broth to put on top of your rice. The basil chicken was okay too. It wasn't something that I would rave about. My biggest disappointment was the flaming chicken. With the price being around $12, you get a fried whole chicken on a stand. When the cook brought it out to our table, he did a poor job of selling this whole flaming thing. He quickly poured some liquid on the chicken; lit the chicken with a lighter. There was like a 3 second flame that came out of the liquid. I thought it was going to be as dramatic as the sizzling chicken that you sometimes get a some Chinese restaurant that still sizzles when it's on your table. They need to rename this to Chicken on a stand or something. The chicken tasted like regular chicken. It was dry and not flavorful. I would skip this next time. Overall, the food is not too much to rave about. If you want, try it out. Just stay away from the flaming chicken.

This Thai restaurant is family owned and operated. Everything is great but I would definitely recommend their spring rolls, Thai chicken salad, yellow curry and pad thai. That is usually what my family orders when we go. The food always come out fast and hot. Ordering to go is always fast as well. Always a 10 or 15 minute wait time. And if you order during lunch they have a pretty great deal that comes with a selected dish and drink for around $8. Being born and raised in Crescent City, this is one of the best places that is well hidden. If you're in town and craving Asian, this is the place to go. It's not fancy but it's GOOD.

Crescent City, CA is a shit hole. If you find yourself stuck here go to Thai House. Good solid Thai food. We ordered many different plates and we ate them all.

I was not happy with this place. Worst sweet and sour chicken I have ever had. Service was slow. The only reason I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 star is because my boyfriend did like his basil shrimp dish. Portions are small.

Our 1st meal after camping in the redwoods, and an amazing music festival weekend! We ordered the lunch specials which were not Thai food, but still good food for Chinese food! We got a banana milkshake that was awesome and would defiantly recommend! The staff was all very friendly and attentive. They gave us some little plums that were sour but a very nice gesture.

  • K A.

The pad thai wasn't good. The sauce wasn't recognizably pad thai and had a distinct fishy taste. The yellow curry was pretty good. The service was fine. The atmosphere was a little depressed. Dishes run around $8. Mostly we were really disappointed with the pad thai, a staple of thai food.

    (2)
  • Nick A.

Pretty good place. I got the spicy Pad Thai and it was delicious. My Girlfriend got the fried rice. Very filling but we both could have a more shrimp. Only about 3 pieces per serving. Service was good. And very home type of place. Had really good Thai tea boba. Definitely a place to come back too

We are traveling from Washington on 101 and decided to give this restaurant a try. When we pulled up, we were a tiny bit concerned with the look of the place but you should never judge a book by its cover so we went in. I ordered the spicy basil dish abdomen he ordered the vietnamese soup (pho). Both dishes were delicious. Service was speedy and friendly. The waiter was very attentive and accommodating. I would definitely come here again on our next road trip.

Too expensive. They do deliver though. Steamed rice and saracha was good. They forgot our sodas but did come back within 5 minutes to deliver them. I think a second chance is warranted.

After traveling the coast for several days I grew tired of fish and chips, burgers, etc. I looked up this place and decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The service was excellent. The food was tasty. I especially enjoyed the egg rolls. I will return.

We ate at the Thai House on Monday Night, Mar 10, 2014. The service offered by the young male waiter was very poor; he had a sour face and was completely uninterested in explaining the menu. The Clay Pot Curried Seafood was very good but the rest of the meal was some of the worse Thai Food that I have ever eaten! The Chicken Sa-Tay featured dry overcooked chicken served with a gray colored "peanut sauce" that had absolutely no peanut taste. The Spring Rolls were hard, dry and completely tasteless. The Pad Thai featured greasy noodles served with a very hot spicy that burned our lips. We explained our displeasure to the waiter and he seemed not to care. We asked to speak with the chef and were refused. There was only one other table taken so the place was not busy. We have eaten at the Thai House several times over the past couple years and we were very pleased with the food so something has changed- perhaps new management, or new cook, or??? I rated our experience with 2 stars The clay pot seafood dish was very good and worth 4 stars but other three dishes were so poor they are worth zero stars so my overall rating is 2 stars.

  • Tim M.

An average Thai restaurant, in a small town. Had the clay pot seafood, which was quite good though small portions. About $15 a person all told. Décor is a bit simple and the waiters are unschooled but friendly. No beer on tap but Singha in a bottle. Overall, a decent place for dinner.

  • Laura L.

Maybe the Thai House has good days and bad days, based on the reviews. There was no one in the restaurant when we arrived one evening. Our waitor was a young man. He didn't smile or greet us; wasted no time on pleasantries. I got the impression that he was shy and would rather be doing something else but that this was his family's restaurant and he was forced to work there that night. The food, on the other hand, was awful. We had a curry that was pretty decent but everything else came out of the kitchen at lightening speed and piping hot seconds after we ordered, as if they had all been popped in the microwave. The noodles stuck together on one dish and the taste was very poor. Honestly, we would never ever go there again. But, judging by the other reviews perhaps they have nights that they cook and nights that they just warm up leftovers. Just like I do at home.

Though the restaurant looked a bit shabby from the outside, the food was fresh and delicious. I stopped here with my family en route Jedediah Smith redwood natl park and was very happy we chose this restaurant for lunch. We ordered the pineapple cashewnut fried rice, which was absolutely delicious. Yellow curry was also great with fresh veggies. Spring rolls well done too.

I really like the Thai house and used to eat here frequently when I lived in Crescent City. I still eat there when I come home to visit my parents and always enjoy it. They have good sweet and sour chicken, but it isn't your traditional sweet and sour. I also enjoy their fried rice a lot, but my favorite thing on the menu is the flaming banana. I have never met a person who has tried it and didn't enjoy it. They flame cook it right in front of you and give you 2 large scoops of ice cream, and then pour the butter on top. I prefer to have my own, but it is large enough to share. The sweet little old man who runs it is wonderful. He is so friendly and always remembers what you order. For a long time when we would go in he would see my family and say exactly what we wanted before we even sat down. The prices are fair, and they have plenty of vegetarian options. The outside kind of looks a little bit sketchy, but try it out anyways.

This place is AWESOME! I had to travel to Crescent City to attend a surgery at the hospital, and I didn't know where to go for dinner. I am so glad I chose this place. I love Thai food, and I travel all over eating a different places. I can only speak as to what I got, but this is some of the best Thai food I've had! I got the yellow curry and spring rolls. I asked for peanut sauce instead of fish sauce with my spring rolls. The peanut sauce was delicious. The spring rolls also had a great flavor and were crisp and hot. The yellow curry was AMAZING! I enjoyed every last bite. If I ever come back this way, I will definitely be coming to eat at this place!!

In a fishing town this was the healthiest fish, Salmon special this summer. Tasted great, good size portions. Assuming you like your meat (fish) with vegetables, Asian style. Keep up that combination! We came back a few times while nearby. I can only guess the little old man full of energy is the spirit behind the business.

Ordered delivery to the motel and they were fast and had everything I ordered. I had the seafood curry dish and the barbecued chicken, while it was not bad it is not what I expected. I eat a lot of Thai food and this seemed Americanized, which means the seasoning was not totally Asian. The chicken was really not barbecued you had to add sauce to makes taste barbecue. It wasn't bad but not the best I have had.

Wholesome, tasty, fresh dishes. My 3.5 year old devoured her broccoli chicken (not spicy), mainly the broccoli -- not overcooked, well seasoned. My husband made faces at the pad thai (too vinegary/sauce too thin to his taste) but he's a complainer and I made sure to taste his dish that he wolfed down even though he was bitching about how there was too much food -- it totally hit the spot. I'd rather have something light than overly thick. Thank goodness there's variations in the same dish from one restaurant to the next. Great fish tank as you first enter the place. Reasonable prices, complementary cut up orange for dessert, I will make sure to be back if meal time rolls around next time I'm in CC. Thank goodness for Asian food to switch up the American diet!!

  • Michelle M.

I don't know where else to get decent vegetarian food in this town. I love the coconut soup and the pan fried noodles. The tofu spring rolls are also really great. I don't understand why the reviews for this restaurant are mostly positive, but the star rating is so low. It's the best restaurant in that poor sorry excuse for a town. I eat there every time I'm passing through.

Our first time in Crescent City CA. Looked up restaurants in YELP and found one with some good ratings and thought we would give it a try....we were greeted with a Warm welcome, Attentive and Fast service and very good Thai food! The Spring Roll and Satay appetizers were very tasty. The Clay Pot Seafood Curry was Hot and EXCELLENT! As was the Pad Thai.....and the Flaming Banana with Ice Cream dessert was an added plus to a super dinner. We highly recommend this Thai / Vietnamese restaurant. A+ Dining experience for us.

  • Jeffrey T.

Good was pretty good. Medium was a little spicy but not too bad. I also got a Vietnamese coffee with my meal but they put too much coffee in the contraption and it came out bitter and over extracted; not a huge deal but if they have it on the menu I expect them to know how to make it. Overall it was a pretty decent restaurant.

Nice people, but the food is pretty terrible. Maybe the regular staff was off for NYE, but either way, just realy weak attempt. Panang curry was orange-colored, watered down coconut milk with a wad of curry paste floating in it. Papaya salad looked like it was sitting in Tupperware for so long that the peanuts were translucent. Go elsewhere. You're welcome.

I grudgingly give this place 3 stars, rounded up from 2.5, and only because it's in Crescent City. In the Bay Area, Thai House would go out of business in a second. The reviewers from the Bay Area who say otherwise have never had good Thai food. Staff were nice and food came out very quick, I'll give them credit for that. Unfortunately, the basil stir-fry pork and the red curry were both quite bland. It does taste like mediocre Asian home-cooking, but then I'm paying for something that I can make a lot better at home. If you're familiar with Thai/Vietnamese food, expect to be disappointed. If not, Thai House may be an OK choice. I find the nearby 101 Hawaiian Barbeque a lot more tasty, although I think it is slightly more expensive.

Vegetarians need to approach Thai restaurants with caution. Many of them will offer "vegetarian" dishes that are actually cooked with fish sauce and oyster sauce, the staples of Thai cooking. When asked about this, some will misunderstand, and some will just lie. So, it's always great to see a menu that explicitly offers to substitute purely vegetarian sauces. This saves a lot of negotiation. Thai House has lots of menu items, including all the traditional That stuff, some Vietnamese specialties, and the aforementioned vegetarian alternatives. We found the food to be quite tasty, with crisp fresh vegetables and flavorful sauces. My request for "medium" spicy yielded a bit blander result than I expected, but that's the problem with subjective descriptions when you and the restaurant don't know each other. Service was quick and attentive. The interior decorating is old and musty, with discolored menus and placards on the tables. The place is clean, but the shopworn look of the place conveys a different impression. Overall, it's nice to see a quality restaurant in this town, which really needs some upgrading.

We were just passing through. I was skeptic due to the exterior but i was pleasantly surprised. Excellent food. Attentive service. Reasonable prices. Large portions. The waitress was prompt and very friendly. My friend and I are gluten free vegetarians and often find it difficult to eat out but this place had tons of options and could make almost any dish work for us. She was knowledgeable about gluten free needs. Would highly recommend and go back.

We are addicted to Thai food and don't miss a chance to eat at a new place. We've eaten here a couple of times and realize that it's just an ok Thai restaurant. Plenty of seating available and the service is friendly and fast. The food taste good but the portions are a bit small compared to other places we've been too and not very consistent in size from visit to visit. We've even bought some of there almond cookies for the drive north and actually thought they were pretty tasty!

Who would have guessed that Crescent City would have fine Thai food? After working a contract here for a couple weeks and eating many times over, the food was always great, the portions enormous, the vegetables were always fresh, the noodles perfect, the meat tender and trimmed. Excellent Thai food for anywhere, but especially for Crescent City. If youre travelling through and want some great Thai food, go to Thai House!

Maybe it's a three and a half, but our experience was very good, so four stars it is. Thai House is pretty unpretentious outside. And inside, too. Not very pretty but clean. We had read (thanks Yelpers) that an older gentleman who serves as a waiter/host is a delight, and we found that to be the case. He couldn't have been friendlier, a speedier server and a more smiling host. The menu is varied. It includes some Vietnamese dishes, but nothing out of the mainstream of either Thai or Vietnamese. We sampled the spring rolls, both hot and cold, and found them delicious, the former crunchy, the latter squishy tasty ($6.95). The Calamari cooked with pepper sauce and onions was moist and soft, just tangy enough. And the Chicken Yellow Curry with carrots and potatoes was just as good. A bowl of rice came with both dishes. The prices seemed reasonable, $12.95 for the calamari and $8.95 for yellow curry. A bottle of Singha beer made the meal just right. We enjoyed our experience here. It's certainly not the finest Thai we've eaten, but for Crescent City, it's good food and good value. We'd go back anytime.

Horrible food and service. Curry was just colored water, and when I wanted to send it back, they did a lot of drama to cancel it. And tried to convince that I was wrong and their food is good, and I Dint know their food. I hadto tellher therecipe of a good curry. Don't ever come here.

This place is good. Not just "good for a Thai place in the middle of nowhere," it's actually good, even for a Thai place in whatever big city you're probably coming from. That said, it's not great. Not awesome. But if you're in the mood for Thai, you won't be disappointed. Try the (not fried) veggie spring rolls, they're awesome. (Don't worry. If you love fried food when you're on the road, like me, there's fried tofu inside). I also had the Red Curry. It wasn't bad. But I'd try something else on the menu (it wasn't as thick as I like my curry, and it had tons of celery... not cool). Service was outstanding.

This may be a bit hard to review since I have a friend who's wife is Thai and her cooking just cannot be beat, but here it goes. A plus goes out for its plentiful seating and charming Thai decor. The food portions are nice sized and the prices are somewhat moderate. The bad news: I cannot remember the last time I was served a Coca Cola in a plastic sippy cup...,lol...maybe at 3 years old? What was worse is that I could still taste the dish soap in the cup...yuck!!! They are completely cheap about the sodas because they don't have fountain drinks, only cans. The waiting staff are usually children and all times we have went, we got the same Teenage brat who screws our order up every time and then she has the nerve to say, "No I wrote down what you wanted, you're wrong." Because of this, I don't frequent this place anymore and if I do, delivery is always speedy from this location without the rude teenage waitress.

We recently spent a week in Crescent City and ate at the Thai House twice during our vacation. The first time, we went for dinner and the older gentleman was working. As other reviewers have said, he was very friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, it was our first time eating Thai food, and he served it to us family style so we could all share each others meals. We did order the flaming banana, which was delicious and impressive with the flame. We enjoyed our first visit so much that we went back a second time for lunch a few days later. This time, it was a younger boy working -- perhaps in his late teens or early twenties. My husband asked him what his favorite dish was, and he replied, "McDonalds" and refused to suggest any dishes, saying, "I've eaten this stuff my whole life. I don't like it." Very rude! Thankfully, this wasn't our first time there, or we would have just left. I certainly don't want to eat at any restaurant that ranks lower than McDonalds! Service the second time also wasn't nearly as good, but the food was still delicious, so it was still a decent experience.

Awesome Thai place. There's so many choices! The service is great, and you get your food very quickly. Those people who give this low ratings must be trolls. I got a salmon special, the fish was caught right in Crescent City.

Red Curry was great. The Spicy Basil tasted a little too much like beef stew. The spicy Beef Pho is great. Their steamed rice was mushy. Way too overcooked. The bubble tea wasn't good. It tasted diluted.

Great food, great seating, great service Just a bit noisy in the kitchen. Loud LOUD talking, but it was funny. Good laughs. Thanks Thai House!

My coworker and I were surprised but this place was actually good. If this place were in SF, I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here but if it were in my neighborhood it would definitely be in the rotation. Tried some of the curries and they were solid.

I ordered chicken satay and mango with sticky rice to go. Both were excellent and the restaurant owners were very nice.

Good Thai food with a Vietnamese inflection. If this restaurant were in the Bay Area or Seattle I'd rate it three stars. The quality of the dishes is uneven, but at their best they're as good as any you'll find anywhere on the West Coast - and that includes Plearn in Berkeley, my personal benchmark for American Thai. Located where it is in the comparative culinary wasteland of the California-Oregon coastal border area, it gets an extra star just for being there. The red curry is excellent, rather different than what I've had anywhere else. Some of their vegetarian dishes (like the "Three Taste Vegetables") are rather boring. But they get a whole star for their Tom Ka Gai (chicken coconut soup) alone - one of the best I've ever had. And for dessert, the mango and sticky rice is absolutely first-class. As far as I'm concerned, if you're in Crescent City and hungry, don't want to pony up for a fancy dinner and find yourself gagging at the thought of fast food or the extrusions of the "casual dining" chain industry, this is the place for you. Good handmade food and fast, attentive service in a basic, no-frills atmosphere for a reasonable price (We had two entrees with soup, iced coffee and dessert for two for about $30). Highly recommended.

On our trip over Christmas to Crescent City, we eat at this family run establishment. Didn't expect any restaurant to be open Christmas Eve, so it was a nice surprise that not only that this restaurant was open but was fairly busy, always a good sign. The food was home style. The Pad Thai noodles were a little over done, the Chicken and Shrimp Won Ton Soup was good, the best was the Fried Rice, the Shrimp in Red Curry was passable. Overall, I didn't expect to have a decent Thai meal in this out of the way location, so it was a pleasant surprise to have a fairly good food.. The service certainly made up for any short comings of the food if any. For four dishes, drinks and tip the total was just under $50.

There's not much to do in this city, but if you're stuck there and you need Thai food you come to Thai House. You don't, ah, have much choice. Luckily, the food is pretty decent. If you end up in Crescent City and must pick from Crescent City options, Thai House is a pretty good choice for dinner. I recall liking the curries well enough, anyone else? Fried bananas are a good choice for dessert. I go expecting to see people I know. Such is your fate when you grow up in a small town.

We like the Thai food here but what really draws me an my family in is the "Flaming Banana." Absolutely awesome sweetness, caramelized banana served warm with quality ice cream. This is a highlight. If I am not mistaken, they still do it out in front of you and it is a show to watch....all warm and gooey as a result....yummy yum!

We went to this establishment based on a friend's recommendation to try the flaming banana dessert. The service was great and swift until we received our flaming banana. When the server tried to light it, none of his three lighters worked, and he said "Maybe next time!" while placing our dessert on our table. We decided to try it anyway, and while the food was decent, it did not taste as it was described since there was no flame to caramelize the sauce. I wouldn't return.

My friend and I have eaten two meals here. The first meal included some sort of basil-spiced fried rice, which was very nicely seasoned. The second time was a whole chicken, which had zero seasoning. Hmmm, now that was a surprise. The appetizer stuff is good. Service is pleasant. The place is an older joint but clean. The price for two to eat runs on the higher side and then we have that sales tax tossed in to make it a Pretty Expensive place to eat compared to the good Oriental places we eat at in Oregon. However if you are in Crescent City and want a decent chance at enjoying an Oriental meal (albeit at a higher price than is truly justified), this is the place. Lose one star for the prices and one star for the unseasoned whole chicken. Keep the other 3 for everything else being done right.

At the risk of writing a copycat review... considering the remote location; very good Thai food, even considering that the pickings are slim.

we were in town for a couple days, read of thai house (thanks yelpers!) and hotel recommended as well. Lovely wife and I split the appetizers, soup and entree. spring rolls were not fried - thumbs up Po Tak soup - kind of bland, but the red chili sauce fixed that, served with flames. thumbs up. Fresh Halibut special, would have been better with sauce on the side. A big piece of fresh fish filet. Good. fresh canteloup served to clean the palet, thumbs up. Excellent service. Lots on the menu. Popular with the locals. Wife thought the place was dusty.

Even for the area, this food was barely mediocre. Canned carrots and peas in the red curry. Barely any chicken in any of the chicken dishes we ordered. And there was no jovial older host, just a couple of younger folks who seemed to be busy with something going on in the kitchen most of the time we were there. I'd say you're better off eating in Eureka or Arcata.

The restaurant itself is quite modest, but clean. There is a good selection of Thai and Vietnamese food with lots of vegetarian choices. Lunch selections are inexpensive with a large plate of food plus fresh cantaloupe.

We walked in with very low expectations, despite the recommendations from our hotel's book that said it was very authentic. But it was! And we've both been to Thailand and Vietnam! Oh yeah, this is a Thai AND Vietnamese place. We both had soups and they were very good. The menu and decor made me feel like I was traveling through SE Asia again. I would totally come back here, if we were in town.

Restaurant needs updating, food is pretty awful. I do know of a few people who swear by the place, so maybe 'Thai' is not my taste.

Once again I find myself needing the half star option...when is yelp going to fix this? Anyway, this town has the potential to be a charming seaside town though their planners have done a poor job in making this happen. There is little to do and even fewer decent restaurants and hotels in town. This place is not a city, it is a town but let them call it what they will. Now about the restaurant, which has absolutely no atmosphere but then again no restaurant here does. The food is good and always fresh which I appreciate. I give this place 4 stars based on the food and the waiter I have had every time I go here, he is absolutely adorable! He is a little older man that is very soft spoken, has a sheepish smile, and always bows when he approaches or leaves our table. He never hovers over you though somehow knows when to make an appearance. I have tried the clay pots, soup, and various other dishes and have always been satisfied. If you are ever in town be sure to stop by as it will be the healthiest option around.
